you should sign up to be a part of the nya. just go to this website: http://www.get-me.to/nya and click on the link for the nya application and even the convention scholarship if you need to, and you'll get to meet a lot of people between the ages of 9 and 29 dealing with the same things. theres an nya day before the convention for everyone to meet up and they have an entire day filled with stuff just for us. plus you get a free night at the hotel. so i think you should definitely do it!
yeah im going to keep trying to get him to go and stuff.. and no i havent been to any and im not part of nya.. but i did go to a conference here in michigan just a few months ago.. and it was great.. very informative.. bawled my eyes out but i loved every minute of it... im going to try super hard to convince him to go with me.. i think he feels like if he isnt around it then he doesnt have to face any of it.. when i first met him he didnt really talk about it.. he actually didnt really know much about it just that his dad died from it and his sister had it.. then we moved in with his sister and it was kinda hard to just ignore it.. now we talk more about things and he has made the decision to get tested one day.. not sure when.. but before we plan on having any children. he has a son already and i know his main reason for getting tested is his son.. and yeah im pretty positive there will be some kind of cure in our lifetime and i get excited every time i hear of a new breakthrough him on the other hand is a sorta ill believe it when i see it type.. but he has come a long way and i cant really say much because i am not in his position and i will never know what he is going through.. but im going to support him till the very end
When your boyfriend gets tested, just keep reminding him that life doesn't end even if you have the gene. He still has his entire life to live! Plus, by the time he'd become symptomatic, there may be a cure or some way to delay the disease anyway. Making friends who are part of families with HD also makes it a lot easier. It makes you feel not as alone because you know everyone else is going through the same things and know how you feel. I really hope you do make it to the convention, and I hope you can get your boyfriend to come, too. They're so much fun! Have you been to one before? Are you part of the NYA?
I'm glad you still view life that way as you should...im afraid that when my boyfriend gets tested and if it is positive his reaction wont be anywhere close to your positivity .. but i supposed ill get to that bridge when its time to cross it.. but yeah im definelty hoping to go to the convention.. going to try to get my boyfriend to come.. he isnt really into anything to do with huntintons i think just cuz it scares him.. but like i said let me know if you ever need anything
Thank you so much for everything! I know I'm definitely still planning to live my life to the fullest. I wanted to know what's in my future, but I'm not going to let this get in the way of living my life the way I want to. And I know our generation has the most hope for a cure, so there's really no need to worry at this point! And yeah, I am planning on going to the convention this year. Are you?
So sorry to hear about your results!!! But like everyone is saying you have to stay positive!! Think of it as a way to really enjoy every moment you have and know that a cure is Near!!! we all support you on this site!!! Let me know if you ever need anything... at all.. are you going to to convention?
I see the date is getting closer.. i want to wish you the best of luck with everything and no matter what the results remember you have a ton of people who support you on this amazing site!!!!!
