The Orange County Affiliate of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America is preparing for the First Annual HDSA Couture Designer Fashion Show & Luncheon on September 12, 2009 from 12:00pm-4:00pm. This glamorous event will take place at Italian Renaissance Fantasy Villa Rosa Rugosa in Marbella Country Club Estates and will feature an exciting array of couture fashion designers and local celebrities.
**Funds raised from this event go toward supporting our three-part mission of family services, research, and education and advocacy for Huntington’s Disease.
Although HD does not receive the same level of exposure to the public as other neurological diseases, breakthroughs in HD research benefit the research of other diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS, and MS.
The Orange County Affiliate is the perfect blend of the HD Community at large. Comprised of people who are affected directly by Huntington’s Disease and their spouses, friends and families, medical professionals and social workers, and volunteers who’ve been inspired by the courage and spirit they’ve witnessed first hand at our events and through our work, we are a tight-knit group that works together toward one driving goal…to find a cure for HD. As an affiliate chapter we serve the Society’s purposes: to promote and support research on HD to eradicate the disease, to assist people and families affected by HD to cope with the problems presented by the disease, and to educate the public and health professionals about HD. We were awarded the HDSA Honors 2007 Affiliate of the Year Award for outstanding effort in our endeavors, and have seen membership and participation increase exponentially over the last year. We look forward to continually diversifying to meet the needs of our community, and we hope to become a fully operational HDSA Chapter dedicated to help for today, hope for tomorrow.
