Heather DugdaleI have HD too. It is a life sentence. It is not a death sentence. There is more hope now then there has ever been. When I found out my Dad told me,” Not to use HD as an excuse. “You are young enough like I was when I found out, to live your life. I was 19 when I found out. I run a positive HD site that can help you cope. You life has just started.

jennySo how's things for you Kristi? What are you "worried" about? Have you begun the process? Waiting for results? Or just trying to get the courage to start the proceedings? Post a journal entry and get it off your chest....if you get it down in writing it releases the burden. Thinking of you...sending (((hugs))) jenny

jennyHow are things for you at present Kristi? Have you taken the plunge yet? It's such a big decision, but everyone has to do what's best for themselves. Take your time. Thinking of you. (((hugs))) Jenny

Joannehappy recent birthday kristi! gosh i felt so much for you when i read your profile. my mom passed when i was 19 from hd. those teenage years were so hard! my father had remarried years before and it didnt help that my "stepmom" was not even close to being a friend. at first it was my mom, with hd, my grandfather, with alszheimers, my grandma, and me. i was 12. the house was never dull. it got too much for us and my mom was moved to a nursing home and i got shipped to my dads. the years to follow were full of denial, trouble in school, and just plain not caring about my future. my stage of lashing out i guess. then after a severe fight with my "stepmonster" i packed my car and moved from nebraska to florida, i was 18. then mom died. and i wasnt there. she died alone in a nursing home. this leads me to my point of agreement on the statement of "everything happens for a reason". i was dating someone at the timein florida. my mom died on september 11 1995, and my son alex was born on june 5, 1996. even though it took years, and still hurts so deep, i realized i was ruining my life, and leaving nebraska probably saved it. my boys are my life and my light. Everything happens for a reason!!! sometimes i guess it just takes awhile to realize what the reason is! sorry for writing a book but i see a stronger version of me in you! take care!
