2009 Beach Volleyball Tournament to raise funds and awareness about Huntington's Disease...this years focus is Juvenile Huntingtons...
Our 5th annual Beach Volleyball tournament to find a cure for HD is on July 4, 2008 in Barry's Bay Ontario, Canada on Lake Shore Drive at the public beach.
This year, our focus will be Juvenile Huntingtons Disease. It has recently affected our family...my cousin (who's father passed away with huntingotn's) has four sons and her 8 year old son recently had a grand mal siezure, and regular testing was done to find out what caused it...unfortunately nothing was found or diagnosed. So now my cousin and her family are anxiously awaiting this dreaded appointment for their child to be tested for JHD.
I can only imagine what it would be like to have to go through something as horrible and unfair as this. It's the worst kind of nightmare..it tears me up inside...and i don't know what else to do but try to make more people aware of this terrible disease...so that maybe they can contribute and help us find a cure...PLEASE HELP!!

Annual Beach Volleyball Tournament for HD
Our family organizes this tournament to raise funds and awarenss for HD. 2008 will be our 4th year. We have a large amount of support from our small community.
We set up an information booth with brochers and info on HD and this past summer we were able to have Ray Bailey (a contact of the HD Society of Canada) there to answer any questions about HD.
We have 2 courts set up at the public beach and usually have about 14 teams enter the tourney. There are 2 divisions (Competivie and Not so competitive), it's for ages 15-99, admission is $100 per team...all proceeds are donated to HD Society of Canada.
We also have a bbq, raffle tickets and prizes for the winners. This one day fundraising event takes place in Barry's Bay, Ontario in July. I will post the date when it will be decided. We welcome all spectaters and supporters.
