Late Onset Symptoms

Hi Everyone, Can anyone tell me if a 'cranky' disposition is a symptom of late onset HD? Because we have no documented family history, it appears as if my mother in law and her brother may have had the gene although it  probably showed up very late and only with mild symptoms. Their mother was of this disposition, and said inappropriate things that hurt people's feelings. She was hit by a truck, however and any further symptoms were put down to the accident. My mother in law has more of the symptoms, but she is 83 and they are still quite mild. (She has had a stroke recently) Her brother passed away a couple of years ago (he was close to 90) He hadn't spoken to my MIL for decades over a serious family matter, so we never knew if he manifested symptoms later in life. We have lost contact with the cousins as they all moved interstate. Do you think it's appropriate for us to try and find them to see if HD is rearing its ugly head in their lives? Or do we just leave well enough alone? What do you think? Jenny

Jenny, I think you should talk with Amy on my friends list. I know she went though a lot of this with her mother. I have herd that this does happen a lot, but my mom really never showed this part of it.

my experience w/ HD has been family members cranky, unsocialable. There is the movement disorder and the mental disabilities. The right meds have helped my brother but not my neice. I would ask questions. I am still asking family members. I know how confusing it is but I lived with this my whole life. I know how confusing and frustrating it is. Keep searching. Good luck. I am hoping you get the right answers. xo
