Like Jenny said my uncle used haldol...but it made him very tired. She was relieved though because it worked really well. Does he have a nuerologist?

Haldol used to actually MAKE my mom scream.  My understanding from several neurologists is Haldol can have an adverse effect on HD patients.  Please note: everyone is different.  My mom is not on clonazipam - not sure of the spelling to be honest.  I know that Adavan - again, spelling- has worked in her instances of rage.  I wish you the best to get through this.

    Hi Michael,

It's been at least ten years since Haldol has not been recommended as a medication for HD patients. My understanding is that there are several better alternatives.

It's really important to consult a doctor who is up to date on HD research.

Unfortunately, many doctors do not know what HD is. Many only learned about in med school -- if that -- and have not seen or worked with HD patients.

    Hi Michael,

I know that one alternative to Haldol has been Zyprexa (olanzapine).

my thoughts are so with you michael! i wish i could help but at this time it has been years since my mothers passing and thankfully as of yet noone in my family is suffering with hd.  but it is those like you who make the lives of hd patients worth living out.  the people who do really care and are there for that reason not because of obligation.  stay strong

Hello,Michael. My mom took haldol for the last ten years of her life.I took it for about a year.Do not recomend it.Clonazapam leaves me kinda out of it.I take Buspurone right now,but over the years my meds have changed a lot.Find a doctor who is not afraid to try diffirent things at diffirent times.
